The Department of English, which is now a bustling centre of creativity and scholarship, had a humble beginning at the inception of the college in 1981. It became a full-fledged Department, when the Under Graduate programme in English Literature with Copy-Editor as its vocational course began in 2001. After a period of 13 years as a UG Department, it rose to the level of a Post Graduate Department with the commencement of Masters Programme in English Language and Literature in the aided stream in 2014. In addition to the UG and PG programmes in English Literature, the Department offers various Certificate programmes in ‘Designing and DTP’, ‘Communication Skills’, and ‘Business Communication’. The Department also offers an Open Course in ‘Appreciating Films’. Since this college is a sought-after location for cinemas, the Department is keen on linking the student community with the big screen.
